Understanding and messing with light

So i have done my introduction and i am about to start getting my hand wet.

First i know that to really get good and outstanding pictures, then i have to get off shooting in auto and start shooting in manual

Arrrrgggg

But auto was so much fun *sobs*

So to make the transition from shooting in auto to manual, as always the best place to get info is to go on the internet and search.

And that's what i did...

I found a very useful and helpful information about lighting just reading strobist.blogspot.com.

The information there is awesome...especially lighting 101 and lighting 102

So i decided to practice what i learnt...check it out below

The above picture was shoot with one speedlite, with the power set to 1/32.

I was shooting from a low angle and my subject was jumping...that's why it has a levitation appeal.

What i learnt from this shoot...
  1. Mastering light and using off camera speedlight is awesome
  2. You need to gauge your angles and position your light right to be able to get that desired shot
  3. You need to get your exposure right.
  4. One major takeaway is that my shutter speed controls the level of ambient light while my aperture controls my flash exposure.
Alright then, lemme know what you think

Regards

Uche
